Entry to the United World Colleges is by competitive selection. Selection is based on personal merits and financial assistance in the form of partial or full scholarships are available on a need basis.

Selection is the responsibility of the National Committees in more than 100 countries. Interested students should contact their own National Committee.

When to Apply

On application students should have completed ten or eleven years of formal education and are aged between 15 and 17 years (may vary slightly by National Committee).

The academic year starts in August and applications are usually accepted through December and January for the year starting the following August. Please contact your own National Committee for specific dates.

Indian Nationals:

Applications are invited for September 2010 entry to the United WorldColleges situated in UK, Singapore, Canada, Venezuela, USA, Italy,Hong Kong, Swaziland, Norway, India and Costa Rica. Somefull and part scholarships are available on the basis of merit at MahindraUWC India and only limited scholarships are available at someoverseas UWCs. Applicants are required to research United WorldColleges amd the educational experience they provide, via information provided on the following web sites:www.uwc.org, www.uwccommindia.net and www.muwci.net.

The United World Colleges

  • Provide the opportunity for highly motivated young people fromdiverse backgrounds to transcend the manyboundaries, which divide our world.
  • Offer a two-year programme leading to the International Baccalaureate(IB) Diploma. This is recognised as equivalent to the completion ofgrade XII by the Association of Indian Universities.

To apply to any UWC, candidates must

  • be of Indian origin
  • must be born between 1st September, 1992 and28th February, 1995.
  • currently be in either grade X or XI.

To obtain an application form, you will need to send a Demand Draft/cheque payable in Mumbai for Rs.800/- drawn in favour of “TheUnited World Colleges Committee (India)”. Application forms will be issued from 14th September, 2009 until 29th January, 2010 only. Completed applications must reach on or before 15th February, 2010. Late applications will not be accepted. It may be noted that offers are made before Grade X Board results are announced.
